Photographing outdoors is incredibly rewarding, not only because of the open space but also for the natural lighting and the way nature can make us feel. 2020 has been a difficult year, whilst we have all spent as much time as we could in our homes a small break from the inside is important. Being in nature has many positive mental and physical effects, some that we would not usually consider within day to day life. So lets begin '5 reasons why we love outdoor photoshoots.

1. Natural Sunlight There is nothing better than the beauty of natural lighting. The sun provides a wide variation of effects, colours and shadows throughout the course of a day which can lead to some amazing results in our imagery.

2. Natures Backdrop

Nature gives us a beautiful selection of backgrounds for our shots, making our images slightly more aesthetic than a generic studio setting.

3. Out of your comfort zone

It is extremely easy for younger children to dismiss the entire idea of a photoshoot whether it has been paid for or not, after all they have no idea these types of things cost money and quite simply have no concept of it. Younger ones especially will recluse to various parts of the house meaning they miss the whole session and you end up with a small amount of images. Hosting your photoshoot outside means they can be motivated to play more and have less places to hide from the camera.

4. Mental and physical health

The mental and physical positives of being outside are tremendous. Just 20 minutes outside can lower stress levels, encourage physical activity and help with mental health problems such as anxiety, clinical depression and more. We encourage you to research this further if you are suffering with any type of mental health problem.

5. Space

Having endless amounts of space to experiment with allows our shots to be wide and free and there is plenty of fun to be had. A number one concern for us is getting everyone in the image, this sometimes is not possible when restricted to a small studio or your own living room, let you and your family be relaxed and book your shoot for an outdoor location.

We know our clients will have different reasons for why they may prefer an outdoor shoot but these are key to us. Displayed below are some of our favourite outdoor sessions.
